I BELIEVE

I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. I believe God is the author of the Bible and that God inspired men of old to write all of the words contained therein. I believe that the God of the Old and New Testaments is the creator of the universe and that He created man in his own image. I believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son of God and the Holy Spirit and believe what God has to say in the Bible about sin, redemption, and eternal life.

I also believe that the Bible1 contains God’s only plan of salvation for all mankind and that there is only one way to heaven and that is through Jesus, the Son of God (Acts 4:12). Because I believe, I have accepted Jesus as my personal Savior.

WHY I BELIEVE

I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, because of the following:

Approximately 40 men wrote the Bible, over a period of 1,400 years, with total agreement of the scriptures.

There is agreement between these writers of scripture about God’s deity and his relationship with man, even though the Bible was written over a long period of 1,400 years. Therefore, God had to be the Bible’s author who inspired these men, though the Holy Spirit, to write the Holy Scriptures in total harmony.

There are 300 prophecies, in the Old Testament that were fulfilled by the first coming of Christ, as described in the New Testament.

The mathematical probability that all 300 Bible prophecies could happen just by chance is a very small probability. Conversely, the mathematical probability that Jesus is the Son of God, as prophesied in the Bible, is an extremely large probability.2 These Bible prophecies were fulfilled because the Bible is actually the inspired Word of God.

Through reading the Bible, the Holy Spirit has revealed to me that the Bible is indeed the inspired word of God. I also believe that Jesus loves me, because the Bible tells me so.

Since I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, I believe the Bible to be the only authority, on the nature of sin, repentance, salvation, and a person’s manner of life. I believe that every area of one’s life should come under the jurisdiction of the teachings of the Bible.

Because I do believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, everything in life falls in place for me. I believe therefore, everything in life is under the ultimate dominion and sovereignty of God.

WHY YOU SHOULD BELIEVE

You should believe too, because what you believe will determine where you spend eternity. There is only one of two places where you will spend eternity, either in heaven or in hell.

You should believe in Jesus, and accept Him as your personal Savior, if you want to go to heaven. Not accepting Jesus as your personal Savior, sometime before you die, will condemn you to spending eternity in Hell. It is much better to accept Jesus as your Savior now, while there is still time, than to procrastinate. You might never again feel the need to accept Jesus as your Savior, before you die, and that would be very unfortunate.

God loves you and wants you to believe in his Son, Jesus and spend eternity with Him in heaven.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus has prepared a place in heaven for believers. Jesus has this to say in the Bible.

John 14:2-3 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Jesus also had this to say.

Mark 18:2-3 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The alternative place to spend eternity is in Hell. All non-believers will spend eternity there.

Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT RIGHTEOUSNESS?

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT SIN?

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT THE PENALTY FOR SIN?

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death;.........

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT JESUS?

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT ETERNAL LIFE?

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT SALVATION?

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the Mouth confession is made unto Salvation.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?

ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE SINNED AND ARE A SINNER. The Bible says:

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

ACKNOWLEDGE THAT JESUS PAID THE PENALTY OF SIN FOR YOU The Bible says:

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ Died for Us.

The penalty for sin is separation from God. When Jesus hung on the cross, God laid the sins of the world on Him, and Jesus become separated from God the father. That is why Jesus cried out from the cross, "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?" But Jesus willfully died for our sins and arose victoriously from the dead three days later.

BELIEVE THAT GOD WANTS TO GIVE YOU A GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN. The Bible says:

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

TO HAVE ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN, YOU MUST BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD, AND THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD. The Bible says:

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

ASK JESUS TO SAVE YOU

The Bible promises us that God will save anyone from sin and hell who will call on the Lord Jesus Christ and ask Christ to save them and be their Savior.

If you have that desire, call on Jesus today in prayer. Tell Jesus that you want to receive Him as your personal Lord and Savior and ask Him to save you and to give you the gift of eternal life in heaven.

You can ask Jesus to save you with this simple prayer:

"Dear Jesus,

I believe that You are the Son of God and that You died on the cross for my sins.  I know I have sinned and need forgiveness.  I am willing to turn from my sin and receive You as my Lord and Savior.  I ask You to save my soul and give me Your gift of eternal life in heaven.  Thank You Jesus for saving me.  I pray these things in Your name.

Amen."

If this prayer expresses the desires of your heart, pray the prayer now from your heart.

If you just prayed the sinner’s prayer and asked Jesus to save you, God Bless you for your decision.

ASSURANCE OF SALVATION AND ETERNAL LIFE

You can be assured of your Salvation with these promises from God’s Word, the Bible.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If you sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and have asked Him to forgive you of your sins and to save you, then according to the Bible you are saved and on your way to heaven. Otherwise God would be breaking his promise which would make God a liar, and that is impossible. (Titus 1:2)

Believe God and his word. Say to yourself, "God promised it, therefore I believe it. That settles it. I’m saved!"

Don’t depend on your feelings for assurance of your salvation, but instead on God’s Word. Your feelings may change from time to time, but God’s Word never changes.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO AFTER SALVATION

Two of the first things that you should do after you have been saved is to publicly confess your belief in Jesus before others and obey the Lord by being baptized.

Go to church next Sunday and when the invitation is given at the end of the church service, go forward and tell the pastor and the congregation that you have been saved by accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and that you want to receive believers baptism.

Matthew 10:32-33 Whosoever, therefore, shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father, who is in heaven. But whosoever, shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father, who is in heaven.

As a new Christian, God wants you to grow spiritually.

II PETER 3:18 says "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

To help you grow in grace, the following will be helpful:

1. Go to a Bible believing church regularly.

2. Be sure to read the Bible daily.

3. Take time to pray daily.

4. Witness about Jesus Christ regularly.

If you just accepted Jesus as your personal Savior and are now trusting Him to save you, God Bless you. May you grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as you study the Bible and fellowship with other Christians.

If you asked Jesus to save you, God Bless You for your decision. If you would like to tell us that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, please send us your name.

Here is an excerpt from Dr. Blick's publication:

There are three hundred prophecies in the Old Testament that were fulfilled by the first coming of Jesus Christ. Professor Peter Stoner, a mathematician in one of California’s colleges, gave a homework assignment concerning Old Testament prophecies and probability to students taking his course in mathematical probability. There were forty-eight students in this class and each student was assigned the problem of estimating the probability that Jesus Christ just happened to fulfill one of the prophecies by chance.

For example, one student may have been assigned the prophecy in Micah 5:2 which states that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Well, Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, so this student had to estimate that out of all the places on Earth, what were the odds that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem.

To get the total probability that Jesus Christ just by chance happened to fulfill forty-eight prophecies simultaneously, the individual probabilities had to be multiplied together. After doing so, Professor Stoner found that the total probability was one chance in 10180. (1 followed by one hundred and eighty zeros.) To put it another way, the changes that Jesus Christ actually is the Son of God is greater that 10180 to one. This calculation was made using only forty-eight of the three hundred prophecies, so undoubtedly the odds are extremely larger than 10180 to one.

The odds of 10180 to one are more of a "sure thing" than anything you can predict in your future. For example let’s suppose you are 20 years old and from insurance mortality tables we know the yearly death rate of persons 20 years of age. It turns out that the chances of your dying in the next second are one chance out of 10 billion, or to turn it around, the chances of your living in the next second are 1010 to one. 1010 is an extremely large number, but infinitesimally small compared to 10180 to one!!

To put it another way, the changes that Jesus Christ is actually the Son of God, are almost infinitely greater than the chance you have of being alive this next second.
